Ode to Hair (…and Gavin…)

So I’ve totally jumped on the hair-style bandwagon.  And I must thank (or maybe blame?) Greta for introducing me to numerous blogs filled with step by step instructions on how to make your little girl’s hair look adorable.  I’ve photographed a few attempts just for fun… and of course there is a gallery…

Well then I got to thinking, why should the little girls have all the fun?  I’ve got hair; lots of it, in fact.  And I also sometimes just want to look like a princess.  So I thought I’d give it a go on myself.  After a couple minor arm cramps, I came up with a woven braided masterpiece.  And since it was about time to go to bed, the only person to appreciate my efforts was my adoring husband.  So after a few positive comments from Gavin (we’ve been married over ten years now and he can finally say things like “wow, that’s really nice” instead of “wow, your hair looks… different”), I sat down next to him and proceeded to take photographs of the top of my head.  After clicking away for a little while, I went back to view the pictures.  And this is what I saw.

This is the kind of entertainment that Gavin is always quick to provide.  (Not to mention that earlier that same evening he was helping me decipher some “Geek Speak” off of an internet site.  His talents are many, I tell you.)

Gavin, you make me laugh. I would like to know why Gavin wasn’t taking the pictures for you though….

Pretty funny! Does Gavin regret doing background for your shots now that you posted them to the Internet? Can’t wait to show them to Dad!

Love the braids, especially the headband version.

Yes, this was me trying to be a good husband and act excited about hair tangles. I might have overdone it.

How do you get your girls to sit still and not scream their heads off while you braid??

Love the Gavin pics, by the way. Also love the way he called them “tangles.” Hah!

Wow those are incredible! I would love to do that to my girls’ hair, but they just won’t let me anymore! Kate, you and your girls are too cute! Please share, where are those blogs/websites you found for such amazing hair styles?

Gavin, the lady has just spent a million years braiding that thing—take the camera and shoot a pic, already. :) Kate, I don’t know how you had the stamina to do it. It must have taken forever. Hope it stayed just as pretty for the next day. (P.S. Remember when you were fixing my hair for a dance, and I was all, “Don’t ruin this for me!” I think I was kidding. I think.) Miss you tons!

Ha ha, Ang. I LOVE the picture. Don’t know how it got there, but it’s great. Yes, I do have a history of doing fantastic hairstyle’s, don’t I? Luckily my daughters don’t put nearly as much pressure on me as some of my former clients… (ahem “don’t ruin this for me”…)
