We spent the second part of our trip in a suburb north of the city called Chatswood. I carefully chose a hotel that was close to all of the important things: two malls, parks, and a library were all within two blocks. Gavin was working by this time and I needed to find a way to entertain myself and the kids.
Walking in the crisp air and playing at shaded, well-kept parks were some highlights of this part of the trip. We also stumbled upon a used book sale, which was great for Josh (our insatiable reader) and a post office, perfect for sending post cards to the grandparents (hopefully you’ve gotten them by now!)
I also got brave one day and loaded the three kids on the train by myself for one more trip into Sydney. There was one more museum that they really wanted to see so we thought we’d give it a shot. Aside from the several people who looked at me like I was a crazy person, everything went well.
Chatswood was a charming area. We loved walking through the neighborhoods and enjoying the trees and parks. Strangely enough, everything in the city shut down every night at 6 PM, including restaurants. Weird, huh? And not so great when you’re traveling! But we got by with the kitchen in our room and the Aldi across the street. (Btw, this trip confirmed my devotion and love for Aldi.)
Check out the last batch of pictures from Australia.

How long were you guys in Australia? It seems like you had lots of fun and good change of pace. I am happy you could go.
We stayed for about a week and a half. It was great fun and a much needed break from the heat here!
Looks like a really neat city.
We received the postcard over a week ago…….unlike India, we would still be waiting for it.
I’m glad you got another country under your belt before coming home.
